Description

Keyboard navigation provides all web and app users with a fast keyboard-only navigation capability and is also part of the web accessibility features—it enables users with disabilities to fully control their website or app access through the keyboard.

By default, users can only navigate to links, buttons, and form controls with a keyboard. The navigation order in which interactive items receive keyboard focus has to be logical and intuitive. Generally, keyboard navigation logic needs to follow the visual horizontal and vertical flow of the page, for example, left to right and top to bottom, header first followed by the main and then the page navigation.

The keyboard navigation of the Telerik UI for ASP.NET Core DateTimePicker is based on the key-down events on the wrapper element of the component and is always available, as demonstrated in this demo. You can review the following available key combinations.

Focus:

Access key + w focuses the widget

Closed popup:

enter triggers change event
alt down arrow toggles popups
alt up arrow closes the opened popup

Opened popup (date view):

left arrow highlights previous day
right arrow highlights next day
up arrow highlights same day from the previous week
down arrow highlights same day from the next week
ctrl left arrow navigates to previous month
ctrl right arrow navigates to next month
ctrl up arrow navigates to previous view
ctrl down arrow navigates to next view
home highlights first day of the month
end highlights last day of the month
enter if in "month" view selects the highlighted day. In other views navigates to a lower view
esc closes the popup
t selects the current date

Opened popup (time view):

up arrow selects previous available time
down arrow selects next available time
